City to Host Public Information Open House on Park, Water Improvements
The City of Fairbury will host a public information open house meeting Tuesday, October 22, 2019 from 5:00-7:00 pm on the proposed park drainage and new water transmission line improvement projects. The meeting will be held at the Fairbury Community Building, 601 City Park Road, in Fairbury. Attendees are welcome to come and go any time during the advertised open house hours. The open house meeting will provide information about the location and timing of both improvement projects. Members of the project team will be available to answer questions and receive feedback.
The proposed park improvements would include new curb and gutter in sections of the City Park loop along with new curb inlet structures to help stormwater drain more quickly and alleviate standing water. The proposed park storm sewer improvements would connect to a larger storm sewer and continue south of the park and eventually discharge at the levee. The project would also include additional parking areas within the park.
The proposed water transmission project would include two new water mains to replace the aging infrastructure from the existing water treatment site in Crystal Springs Park, generally moving north and east under the river to along West 3rd Street ending at the existing reservoir site near West 3rd and A street. The project will also include the replacement of 3rd Street from Frederick to A Streets, repainting the interior and exterior of the water tower and tower repair. Additional chemical feed for corrosion control will be added to both the Crystal Springs and East Well Field water supplies.
The projects are set to begin construction early in 2020 and anticipated to be complete by November 2020.
