Crystal Springs continues to undergo improvements. Crystal Springs projects were discussed with the Nebraska State Wide Arboretum and approved in the Fairbury parks plan which encompasses two phases of projects as well as future projects.
There are currently 47 campsites that are 30/30/20 amp in the park and the plan is to replace all sites with 50/30/20 amp sites. Additional sites may be added to the park and will be determined in a future project.
Phase I was to remove and replace trees in the entrance and throughout the park as recommended by Arboretum. In addition, the entrance road was widened to allow for larger vehicles to enter the park and an aeration fountain was installed in the Center Lake.
Phase II is to remove trees, regrade and fix drainage issues at the "Lakeside" campsites. Once complete, new camping pads will be built, ADA camp areas will be provided, frost free hydrants will be installed and overhead electric will be replaced with underground wiring. Future Projects will include upgrading and moving the playground equipment to the horseshoe court as well as upgrading pedestals on the hill, tennis court and at the goat shed to 50/30/20 amp sites. Finally, the shelters will also have electricity. Click here to view the layout of Crystal Springs Park with all phases.
