SNOW EMERGENCY MAP AND FAQS

The City of Fairbury would like to thank you for your cooperation during the recent storms.  In preparation for future snow events we would like to remind you that:

  • It is unlawful to shovel snow into the streets as this could cause an obstruction in the roadway and create hazardous conditions (§93.066)
  • It is unlawful to pile snow higher than 3 1/2 feet at intersections and approaches as this causes visual obstructions and creates hazardous driving conditions (§4.08)
  • Businesses are required to clean their sidewalks within 5 hours after a storm or by 9:00 am. (§93.025)
  • Residents are required to clean their sidewalks within 24 hours after a storm. (§93.025)

Proper removal of snow from your property reduces your liability risk and keeps our roads safe.  Thank you for your cooperation in making Fairbury a safer community.
