[ARCHIVED] FAQ's and Map of Our Emergency Snow Route

Emergency Snow Route

In preparation for this season's snow events, the City of Fairbury would like to remind you that:

  • It is unlawful to shovel snow into the streets as this could cause an obstruction in the roadway and create hazardous conditions (§93.066)
  • It is unlawful to pile snow higher than 3 1/2 feet at intersections and approaches as this causes visual obstructions and creates hazardous driving conditions (§4.08)
  • Businesses are required to clean their sidewalks within 5 hours after a storm or by 9:00 am. (§93.025)
  • Residents are required to clean their sidewalks within 24 hours after a storm. (§93.025)

Proper removal of snow from your property reduces your liability risk and keeps our roads safe.  Thank you for your cooperation in making Fairbury a safer community.
